NRA Basics of Shotgun Shooting, sponsored by Level 1 Firearms Training, is a beginner level shotgun safety course - not a marksmanship or tactical class. We recommend this in-person course for those who are new to shotguns, have limited experience, or want a refresher on basic shotgun safety concepts. This objective-based class explores the important facets of shotgun ownership including safe handling, shell components, maintenance, storage, straight away and angled targets, and basic shooting techniques. Training by certified guest instructors. Students will need a shotgun, approximately 100 rounds of factory ammunition (ammunition is not allowed in the classroom), eye & ear protection (prescription eyewear acceptable), and a positive attitude. This objective-based class takes students beyond basic pistol safety concepts to include when you can use your firearm for home defense. This objective-based course explores important concealed carry concepts including how to develop a defensive mindset, cover & concealment principles, holstering options for maximum efficiency, concealed carry laws, how to travel with your firearm, when you can shoot for protection of self and others, proper interaction with the police after an incident, aftermath preparation, basic tactical reloading & defensive shooting drills. Training by certified guest instructors. Students will need a pistol (9mm caliber or greater recommended), approximately 250 rounds of factory ammunition (ammunition is not allowed in the classroom), eye & ear protection (prescription eyewear acceptable), hip or appendix holster, snap caps, 2 extra magazines, and a positive attitude. NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO), sponsored by Level 1 Firearms Training, is a certification course that develops the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations. This includes conducting range inspections, enforce range rules, clear stoppages and malfunctions, conduct safety briefings, and understand and control emergency procedures. This objective-based class is highly recommended for all firearms instructors, range personnel, gun club volunteers, and gun shop staff. Training by certified guest instructors. Students must pass their Range Safety Officer exam with a 90% or better in order to earn their official NRA certification rating. Approximately 9 hours (non-shooting course). Defensive Pistol 101, sponsored by Level 1 Firearms Training, is an advanced level 2-Day course for experienced pistol students who want to increase their defensive shooting skills. Defensive Pistol for Home & Business goes BEYOND " the Basics" to include personal defense strategies to more effectively protect yourself and increase survival during a shooting encounter. Includes transitioning quickly and easily from different stances for rapid and accurate shooting results, introduction to shooting "on-the-move", two and one handed speed reloading, using a secondary firearm for backup. For review of judicial use of a firearm for self-defense, consult an attorney for legal interpretation of the law.. Students who complete this course will be better prepared to take more advanced rifle courses in the future or participate in challenges like the NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program.. NRA Basics of Rifle Shooting ILT is an in-person beginner level rifle safety course - not a marksmanship or tactical class. We recommend this course for those who are new to Long Rifle and AR-15 platforms, have limited experience, or want a refresher on basic rifle safety concepts. This objective-based class explores the important facets of rifle ownership including safe handling, ammunition, maintenance, storage, stances (benchrest, standing, prone), and basic scoping & shooting techniques.
