6th Amendment Right

6th Amendment Right

Whenever you interact with the police, remember your 6th Amendment right – the right for an attorney to be present during questioning. If you plead the 5th you may be “implying” you’re guilty of “something”. Pleading the 5th implies you have something to hide.

Never issue a written statement before consulting with your attorney.

Instead, insist an attorney is present during all questions and interviews. Be sure to insist on this right. All you are required to state is your identity and you have a legal right to be where you are at the time of questioning.

Disclaimer: I’m not an attorney, therefore, be sure to talk to one to get their opinion.
