NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Course

Learn the fundamentals of firearms safety by attending the Texas
NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Course
offered by Level 1 Firearms Training, LLC.

This is an introductory firearm safety course-not a marksmanship class! We recommend this class for those who are new to firearms. Extensive training and in-depth safety principles are stressed including the NRA rules for safe gun handling. The class offers instruction in all facets of firearm ownership including safe gun handling, parts and components, operations, ammunition, maintenance, shooting, range safety rules, and  basic shooting stances including the Isosceles and Weaver positions. This is a great class to take with friends and family!

Graduates from this class meet most state requirements for applying for a concealed carry permit. Some state require editional education (see your local sherrif's department for more information).  Students interested in the Texas Concealed Carry Permit (CCW) must attend additional classes.

This is an extremely challenging but fun course which trains the student for topics which are specific to

personal protection

while away from home

.
Students who attend this class have the opportunity to train with their concealed hip holster or concealed purse, to be exposed to several variations of concealed carry techniques, and to practice presenting their weapon in a safe and efficient manner.The course covers multiple advanced concealed carry positions, stances, and strategies to prevail during a life threatening encounter.


The standard class offers opportunities to build on the essential knowledge and skills that must be mastered to carry, store, and use a firearm efficiently outside the home. After the classroom instruction, students can plan on shooting approximately 200 rounds of ammunition at the range to practice new skills taught during the class as well as additional training for improving their target acquisition.
 

This class is for responsible adults who posses the defensive pistol skills presented in the

. Students must understand the basic legal concepts related to the use of firearms in self defense. Students must know the and observe basic gun safety practices and principles that are used in defensive situations.

NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO)

Complete Course Description: The NRA Range Safety Officer program was developed in response to the demand for a nationally-recognized range safety officer certification. NRA Range Safety Officers are people who possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.
This course does not encompass the functions and responsibilities of a Range Officer, who conducts NRA competition shooting events as defined by Rule 11.5 of the NRA Rule Books.

NRA Range Safety Officers must be 21 years of age or older.
*It is highly recommened that firearms instructors complete this credential if they plan to take groups of students to the range.  Not only does this give the instructor knowledge of range emergency proceedures, but many ranges require an RSO be present if using the range for lessons.

Advanced shooting stances from the two handed Isosceles, Weaver, sitting, prone, kneeling, and lying positions. Practice drills include, challenging target requirements, timed shooting events, low-light and dusk conditions, shooting from concealed cover, and using your back-up pistol are included. Limited discussion and demonstration on personal defense strategies to regain control of a stolen pistol and for close combat scenarios.
