This is an introductory firearm safety course-not a marksmanship class! We recommend this class for those who are new to firearms. Extensive training and in-depth safety principles are stressed including the NRA rules for safe gun handling. The class offers instruction in all facets of firearm ownership including safe gun handling, parts and components, operations, ammunition, maintenance, shooting, range safety rules, and  basic shooting stances including the Isosceles and Weaver positions. This is a great class to take with friends and family!

Graduates from this class meet most state requirements for applying for a concealed carry permit. Some state require editional education (see your local Sheriff's Departmentt for more information).

Learn the fundamentals of firearms safety by attending the Colorado
NRA Basics of Rifle Shooting Course
offered by Level 1 Firearms Training.

This is an introductory firearm safety and training course-not a marksmanship class! We recommend this class for those who are new to firearms and who are interested specifically in rifles. This class introduces students to a wide variety of rifles, actions, and operations. Extensive training and in-depth safety principles are stressed including the NRA rules for safe firearms handling. The class offers instruction in all facets of firearm ownership including safe rifle handling, rifle parts, components, operations, ammunition, range safety rules, shooting from the bench rest, prone, sitting, standing, and kneeling positions. Continued opportunities for skill development and competition shooting is discussed. Minimum 22LR rifle is required; scope optional but strongly recommended.

are interested in protecting their family, children, home, and surroundings. This is an

advanced training class

, therefore, we ask that all students have attended and successfully passed the

NRA Basics of Safety Shooting Class

. The classes take you beyond the normal operations of a firearm into when, when, and how you can use your firearm to protect your home and your family.

The class includes a review of the judicial use of a firearm in Colorado.

  Those interested in the legal interpretation of specific laws should consult an attorney in their home state.

This is an extremely challenging but fun course which trains the student for topics which are specific to

personal protection

while away from home

.
Students who attend this class have the opportunity to train with their concealed hip holster or concealed purse, to be exposed to several variations of concealed carry techniques, and to practice presenting their weapon in a safe and efficient manner.The course covers multiple advanced concealed carry positions, stances, and strategies to prevail during a life threatening encounter.


The standard class offers opportunities to build on the essential knowledge and skills that must be mastered to carry, store, and use a firearm efficiently outside the home. After the classroom instruction, students can plan on shooting approximately 200 rounds of ammunition at the range to practice new skills taught during the class as well as additional training for improving their target acquisition.
 

This class is for responsible adults who posses the defensive pistol skills presented in the

NRA Personal Protection in the Home course

. Students must understand the basic legal concepts related to the use of firearms in self defense. Students must know the and observe basic gun safety practices and principles that are used in defensive situations.

Colorado NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO)

The NRA Range Safety Officer program was developed in response to the demand for a nationally-recognized range safety officer certification. NRA Range Safety Officers are people who possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.
This course does not encompass the functions and responsibilities of a Range Officer, who conducts NRA competition shooting events as defined by Rule 11.5 of the NRA Rule Books.

Advanced two handed and single handed shooting from sitting, prone, kneeling, from cover, and in-motion positions. Practice drills include, challenging target requirements, timed shooting events, low-light and dusk conditions, and using your back-up pistol are included. Limited demonstration and practice of personal defense strategies to regain control of a stolen pistol and for close combat scenarios.

NRA Home Firearm Safety
This course teaches students the basic knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for the safe handling and storage of firearms/ammunition in the home. 

This is a four-hour non-shooting course for safe gun handling that is conducted in the classroom only. Students are taught NRA’s three rules for safe gun handling; primary causes of firearm accidents; firearm parts; how to unload certain action types; ammunition components; cleaning; care; safe storage of firearms in the home; and the benefits of becoming an active participant in the shooting sports. Students will receive the NRA Home Firearm Safety handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Basic Firearm Training Program brochure, and course completion certificate.

Recommended course for Firearm Owners and First Responders in Colorado.

Instructor certification is valid for one year upon initial certification. After completion of the first year, instructors may renew their instructor credentials for up to three years at a time. NRA Apprentice Instructors are young people 13 to 17 years old who wish to understudy a certified instructor. An NRA Certified Instructor will choose the apprentice instructor from select individuals. NRA Assistant Instructors are individuals 18 years of age or older who assist certified instructors to gain the knowledge and experience needed to become certified instructors. A complete NRA Instructor Training Course consists of two parts. The first is basic instructor training, which consists of 6 hours of instruction. The second part is discipline-specific instructor training, which consists of an additional 5 to 14 hours of instruction per discipline. Flash Point Precision Training is designed to provide newly assigned firearms instructors with a familiarization of a variety of firearms. Level 1 Firearm Instructors must be at least 21 year of age and not be restricted from possessing a firearm.
